BCM95 Safety

Pigment constituents, curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin – collectively deemed curcuminoids – have been consumed as part of the famed curry-spice, turmeric for ages. Turmeric is a staple ingredient in the diets of many Indo-Asian populations and its influence has spread as far west as the Caribbean. Its traditional inclusion and long-term, cumulative consumption provide anecdotal evidence of its safety. However, at a meager 6 mg per dietary serving, translating its traditional safety profile to that of its concentrated supplement dose can be speculated, but not automatically assumed.

To provide greater assurance, we have not only formulated our ingredient to be naturally void of any non-turmeric-derived ingredients or bioenhancers, but have additionally conducted and published extensive, peer-reviewed safety studies on BCM-95® specifically. Acute, short-term studies as well as long-term, repeated dose studies were performed for maximal and above-average doses of curcumin. Additionally, toxicity investigations were performed to assess for any role BCM-95® might play in damaging DNA or genes. In all investigations, BCM-95® curcumin-essential oil complex (CEC) was found to elicit no toxic effects and was deemed a safe, non-toxic pharmacological formulation.
